RIP to Brian Glover, 52, former owner of the AAA Fresno Grizzlies. He was killed in a one-car accident near Portland, Ore. on Jan. 24. Glover was an initial investor in Fresno Baseball Club LLC, which purchased the team in 2005, and remained with the Grizzlies as a managing partner until 2013.
According to the Fresno Bee, Glover had invested in several other Fresno teams, including the Falcons (hockey) and Fuego (soccer). His BMW crashed into an embankment in a rural area north of Portland, and Glover died at the scene. Police investigators believed he may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
The Grizzlies issued the following statement: ” We are shocked and saddened due to the sudden passing of Brian Glover. Many of our remaining front office staff worked alongside Brian under the prior Grizzlies ownership. Brian’s commitment and effort to the franchise as a past owner cannot be overstated. So many of the community efforts still going strong today were due to his leadership, especially the ‘Junior Grizzlies’ baseball program for special needs players and construction of the ‘Field of Dreams’ in Clovis. That will always be a part of Brian’s legacy with the Grizzlies, and it hurts to lose a member of the Fresno Grizzlies family. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and close friends.”
